Nunc dīcam, agrī quibus rēbus colantur. quās rēs aliī dīvidunt in duās partēs, in hominēs et adminicula hominum, sine quibus rēbus colere nōn possunt; aliī in trēs partēs, instrumentī genus vocāle et sēmivocāle et mūtum, vocāle, in quō sunt servī, sēmivocāle, in quō sunt bovēs, mūtum, in quō sunt plaustra.


I will now discuss agricultural equipment. Some divide this into two sections, human resources and the aids without which people cannot cultivate the land. Others divide them into three sections, the articulate type of implement, the semi-articulate and the mute: the articulate includes slaves, the semi-articulate oxen, the mute carts.
